Hot Topic: Lessons learned during our first year of marriage

Remember when you were first married? Everything was fresh and new. You and your spouse were having so much fun learning each other, laughing at your differences, making googly eyes. Everything was perfect. Then….Day Two.

If you’ve been reading this blog for any amount of time, you’ve learned that Rin and I have our differences. While we agree on many big-ticket topics, we tend to get a little feisty when it comes to the smaller things in life — like whether or not it’s acceptable to leave a dish in the sink overnight or agreeing on which movie to rent. This dynamic was never more evident than during our first 365 days together as man and wife. What an adventure!

It’s fun for us to look back at our first year and see how far we’ve come. For our friends and family, they’re probably wondering how we ever made it. A lot has changed. Now, instead of duking it out in our living room, we now air it all out in public — on this blog. Ahh, technology.

This week, we’re going to address the top 3-5 things we learned (about life or about each other) during our first year of marriage. A friend of ours suggested we debate whether to leave the toilet seat up or down. That life-altering adjustment just might make the cut. Every man knows that you can’t pee with the seat down!
